Abstract

Disasters have a very detrimental impact on humans. Damage to physical facilities and infrastructure (housing, office buildings, health services, schools, places of worship, roads, bridges and others) is only a small part of the impact of disasters in addition to health problems such as injuries, certain infectious diseases, decreased community nutritional status, stress, trauma and psychosocial problems, even fatalities. Community empowerment in disaster preparedness is a process that aims to increase the capacity and ability of communities to face and respond to disasters more effectively and efficiently. The purpose of this empowerment is so that the community becomes more independent and can actively participate in post-disaster mitigation, emergency response, recovery and reconstruction efforts. This service activity is important so that the community can play an active role in disaster preparedness in their area. The solution offered in solving the above problem is to carry out community empowerment in disaster preparedness efforts. The results of this community service are the achievement of a better understanding of the value of disaster preparedness and mitigation among community members, increased knowledge and skills related to disaster preparedness, such as understanding of early warning indicators, evacuation protocols, and first aid that can be done, cooperation from various parties can encourage increased coordination and communication between various organizations, cooperation from various parties can encourage increased coordination and communication between various organizations.
