The high stunting rate in under five years is a serious health problem in Indonesia, the efforts to reduce stunting must involve all levels of society and across sectors. Stunting greatly affects the growth and development of children and in the long term will have an impact on the low quality of the nation's next generation. Stunted children are susceptible to disease and are at risk of having below normal levels of intelligence and low productivity. The problem of stunting is affected by low nutritional intake, especially in the first 1000 days of a child's life. In addition, inadequate environmental hygiene can cause recurrent diarrhea that interferes with the absorption of nutrients in children. Open defecation is a problem that needs special attention as an effort to prevent stunting. The purpose of this activity is to change children's behavior in open defecation. This activity was carried out in the form of educational open defecation using the lecture method. The target of this activity is elementary school children in the Parbuluan sub district, Dairi Regency. The results of the evaluation carried out through observation activities show that there is a change in the behavior of elementary school children after the socialization of changes in behavior. Increased public awareness along with changes in behavior regarding open defecation are expected to support the program to accelerate the reduction of stunting in Dairi Regency.
