Dental caries is still a health problem, especially in elementary school children. Based on the results of the 2018 Basic Health Research it is known that the proportion of dental and oral problems in Indonesia is (10.2%), North Sumatra is around (7.2%), the proportion of correct tooth brushing behavior in residents aged 3 years and over according to province in Indonesia by (2.8%), North Sumatra around (1.8%), while dental and oral diseases that are most commonly suffered by children aged 10-14 years in Indonesia are cavities (41.4%) and dental disease. bleeding gums. gingivitis (14.3%). The most common dental and oral health problems in North Sumatra were cavities (43.1%), and gingivitis and periodontal disease (15.6%). Based on this, it is necessary to do counseling about the prevention of dental caries in elementary school children. Counseling was carried out with the help of booklets using the Toba Batak language. Counseling was carried out at SD Negeri Lumbanjulu, Lumbanjulu District, Toba Regency. Based on the results of the pre-test and post-test, an increase in knowledge was obtained after counseling was carried out.
