Peningkatan Pengetahuan Ibu Dalam Pencegahan Dan Penanganan Diare Pada Balita Di Puskesmas Bestari

Abstract

Aside from being a cause of death, diarrhea is also a major cause of malnutrition which can cause death and can cause extraordinary events in infants under five years of age (toddlers). Diarrheal disease is the second cause of under-five deaths in the world. Nearly 1 in 5 child deaths, around 1.5 million each year, are caused by diarrhea. This community service was carried out for 30 mothers who had toddlers at the Bestari Medan Health Center. The purpose of this community service is to increase mother's knowledge in handling diarrhea prevention in toddlers. Education and attitude factors have a significant relationship with efforts to prevent diarrhea in toddlers, so that mothers who have high school education and above will find it easy to make efforts to prevent diarrhea. Whereas mothers with an attitude of supporting the importance of preventing diarrhea in toddlers will tend to make efforts to prevent diarrhea, because it has been ingrained from the start and considers diarrhea prevention to be important so as not to cause health problems in the future which can pose a risk of death in toddlers. The role of health workers in making health promotion programs is carried out systematically and continuously to improve attitudes and knowledge of mothers in supporting efforts to prevent diarrhea in toddlers.
